Practice WH Questions through Songs

I am firm believer in language learning through music. According to The Telegraph, listening is a fundamental part of the language learning process. A common mistake we make is simply not doing enough of it.

Here are some songs to help you practice the WH question words. Listen for them! 🙂

  • WHO…?

“Who do you think you are?”

“Who’s gonna save the world tonight?”

*Gonna = going to

  • WHAT…?

“What do you want from me?”

  • WHERE…?

“Where have you been all my life?”

  • WHEN…?

“When are you gonna come down? When are you going to land?”

  • WHY…?

“Why don’t you like me? Why don’t you like me? Why don’t you like yourself?”

  • HOW…?

“How does it feel to know that I love you, baby?”

Tip: After listening to the songs, look up the lyrics or watch a lyric video to really help ingrain the target language patterns into your brain.

    • Thanks! Those are both excellent songs for teaching phrasal verbs (and in general). “Sk8er Boi” by Avril Lavigne is also a good song for both phrasal verbs and a variety of basic tenses.
